User interface controls how anybody enters data or instructions and how information is presented on the screen. The graphical interface combines text, graphics and other visual cues to make software easier to use. SOme of the common graphical user interface that Windows and Macintosh have is software packages. This includes Microsoft word.

Provide an example of how productivity software may be used to increase learning within the classroom? Prodeuctivity software is software designed to make people more effective and efficient while proforming daily activities. 5 types are: word processing in which a teacher can use to make a report, spreadsheets in which a teacher can use to put in grades, database in which a teacher can use to put in a unit lesson, presentation graphics in which a teacher can use to present an activity using pictures to present the information, and personal information management in which a teacher can use for storing their personal information such as address books, appointment calendars, and notepads. If so, share your experience(s). If not, how do you believe these software programs may enhance student learning? There were many different software programs presented in this chapter. When I was in the classroom I would use the publisher software. As a class we would create a newsletter for our parents. Whith the newsletter, we would keep parents informed about what is going on in our classroom with a fun and imaginative way. Students loved creating their own articles about what activities are coming up in our classroom. We would also use the publisher software to create flyers for our fall carnival.

Week 8 Blog
1) Briefly describe why digital media and educational software applications are important for education. I think that these applications are good because of the instruction that the students are learning. Without the students not being in King Tuts tomb, they can visit it without leaving their seats in school. And now with LCD televisions, the pictures are clearer than ever.
2) Name four media components of digital media software. Briefly describe each.
1. Text- this is the role of building multimedia
2. Graphics- are the pictures drawings, ect. of multimedia
3. Animation- great illustrations or pictures of objects.
4. Audio- Provides the sound of the media software.
3) What are the differences between an electronic reference text and a how-to guide? Which one is used more often in education? Why?Electronic reference text uses graphics, sounds, animations, and video to explain a topic while a how-to guide teaches you s step-by-step instructions to learning a new skill. Electronic reference text is used mostly in school because it explains a topic, although a how-to guide should be used more because it provides students with an opportunity to be creative.
4) What is virtual reality? How do teachers, students, and others use virtual reality? Is virtual reality available on the Web?
Virtual reality is a real life feeling of an artifical enviornment. Teachers can use this to create a feeling to students like they are in a certain place and time. Yes they are available online for students and people to experience.
